When Prophet Ibrahim settled Lady Hajar and Prophet Ismail in the barren valley of Mecca, he prayed:
 "Our Lord, I have settled some of my descendants in an uncultivated valley near Your Sacred House... so that they may establish prayer. So make hearts among the people incline toward them and provide for them from the fruits." (Ibrahim: 37) 

After their water ran out, Lady Hajar ran between Safa and Marwah seven times -  As we perform the Sa’i between them, we honor her trust in Allah through her efforts - searching for water until the Zamzam well miraculously sprang forth. It continues to provide water to pilgrims and is located behind Maqam Ibrahim, 1.56 meters beneath the Tawaf area. 

 Zamzam is a blessed and miraculous well that continues to provide water to this day for visitors of the Sacred House. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
 "The water of Zamzam is for whatever purpose it is drunk for."
